This elegant pair of earrings incorporates North American turquoise paired with ancient Egyptian faience beads in a matching turquoise blue, both beautifully offset by the 22k hand worked gold.

The turquoise hails from the famed Sleeping Beauty mine in southwest USA, renowned for magnificent bright blue and very clean turquoise of exceptional quality.  As the mine is no longer active the turquoise from this area has become difficult to source and as a result, highly sought after. 

Both the ancient Egyptians and the indigenous people of the American southwest , prized turquoise for its protective and spiritual qualities, hence its use was widespread throughout the ancient world and continues into modern adornment.
