Early carved Papua New Guinean bone element artfully held in place with 22k gold conical sleeve with accents of fine seed pearl, hanging from a south sea pearl post.
Carved bone elements such as these were often worn as ornamentation in tribal cultures of the Pacific rim region, the more ornate and more decorated the higher the status of the wearer within that particular society. In addition, these items were part of the intricate barter system for these island peoples, used as for the extensive dowery and trade systems in the area.
Beautifully set with our signature 22k gold detailing with pearl splay. A unique and stunning earring!
